How do you make your terrible seats more comfortable?

I drive a 2008 Honda CR-V, recognized around the world as having among the most uncomfortable seats ever installed in a mass produced vehicle. I’m trying to find some way to make driving slightly more bearable. I bought a simple lumbar insert for my old Fit, which was OK, but this seat has it all. Flat, unsupportive bottom, zero lumbar support, no side bolstering to speak of, flat back with no contour, and a bizarre headrest that does not support the head, nor is it restful.

Any magic to discuss or recommend? I’d consider swapping seats with a better vehicle, but A) !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and B) I don’t want to fabricate rail brackets.

I’m in the same boat but have a Crown Vic. It seems going aftermarket might be the best bet.

Number one on the list is trying out some different driving positions. Sitting very upright might improve matters a bit.

Otherwise, I reckon you might as well just bite the bullet and swap the seat for something that’s a reasonably good fit. Fabricating brackets sounds like a big job, but if you find seats that are close enough you only need to e.g. add a couple of small steel strips with a couple of holes in then it should be easy enough.

Yeah, I finally settled on the most comfortable position I could find after several weeks of fiddling. Bolt upright, relatively close to the wheel, and sans arm rest. A chiropractor commented on the CRV enthusiast forum (and dear God, what an ironic combination of words) mentioned that for most people using the armrest actually threw your body out of balance and would cause back and shoulder pain. I have to say, it’s helped.

That said, it still sucks. My butt is numb after 15 minutes and my lower back starts screaming after 30. Legs lose feeling, neck hurts. I hate this thing.

These would be great! Some standard Porsche seats:

No tips sadly, but that was a big factor when I got rid of my 13 Civic. Holy hell they were so fucking bad and uncomfortable. Even a half hour drive left my lower back screaming

I cannot get comfortable in any of the crossovers with the high H-points. I’m used to seat low, back upright, arms and legs extended forward which they won’t allow. Drives me nuts and it doesn’t matter what the shape/support of the seat is. It’s also the reason I can’t be comfortable in the Fiat 500.

Coincidentally I also keep my office chair fully bottomed out with my keyboard/monitor way at the back of the desk. Someone asked me why my setup was that way, since it's apparently odd, and at first I was just *shrug* but later realized it emulated my driving position.

Well, you could try something like one of these:

And while I was looking for that pic, I found these:

That last one definitely has a creepy parasitic-twin vibe to it. And the one above that reminds me of a parent with a toddler in a carrier on their chest.

I have no experience suffering in a CR-V, but those ugly looking wooden bead cushions work really well. If you can find a quality one or set of those I’d recommend it.
